WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration says it continues to see a drop within the variety of folks apprehended on the southern U.S. border.
Appearing Customs and Border Safety Commissioner Mark Morgan stated Tuesday that border officers encountered about 52,000 migrants on the border in September. That’s down about 65% % from the height in Might of about 144,000.
Morgan says the administration’s methods have led to outcomes.
These insurance policies have included denying asylum to most migrants who crossed via one other nation to reach on the U.S.-Mexico border and sending greater than 45,000 migrants again to Mexico to attend out their asylum claims.
It was the fourth straight month of declines.
