The Union Cupboard on Wednesday permitted a one-time cost of Rs 5.5 lakh as a resettlement package deal for the 5,300 displaced households which had come from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and initially settled exterior Jammu and Kashmir however later relocated to the state.

A “historical wrong” has been corrected by the federal government, Union minister Prakash Javadekar mentioned whereas briefing reporters after the Cupboard assembly.

In 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had introduced the resettlement package deal for these PoK households who had settled in Jammu and Kashmir after partition on separate events.

The households which had come from PoK however had settled exterior Jammu and Kashmir had been overlooked of the package deal, Mr Javadekar mentioned.

These households had later resettled in Jammu and Kashmir. Now 5,300 such households have been included within the resettlement package deal, he mentioned.
