‘He’s not very good!’ Bob Willis hits out at Australia captain Tim Paine during final Ashes Test


England hero Bob Willis has hit out at Tim Paine and says the Australia captain is ‘not very good’.

Paine was named Australia captain within the wake of the ball-tampering scandal that noticed former skipper Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner banned for 12 months.

The 34-year-old has struggled with the bat throughout the Ashes, posting only one fifty, and has curiously solely ever made one first-class century in over 120 matches.

Regardless of his lack of contributions, Australia took an unassailable 2-1 lead over England final week to retain the Ashes for an additional two years.

Talking on Sky Sports activities’ The Debate programme, former England captain Willis mentioned: ‘What will we make of Tim Paine?

‘But is he any good? Is he a captain? He’s not an excellent wicketkeeper. He’s not an excellent batsman both.’

Legendary bowler Willis was extra complimentary of Australia star Pat Cummins, the main wicket-taker on this Ashes collection and the present No. 1 bowler on the planet.

Cummins took three wickets to assist Australia bowl England out for 294 of their first innings at The Oval.

‘Pat Cummins is unreal… I’ve by no means seen stamina prefer it,’ Willis mentioned.
